New product launches this week: Nubia, Meizu, Teewe
The fourth week of May 2015 seems to be an interesting week for India as we shall see the launch of two more Chinese smartphone brands in the country. With Nubia and Meizu all set to launch their products in the country this week, the smartphone industry is only going to be flooded with more high-end and budget smartphones.
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Meizu will be launching their brand here in India on 18th May, while the next day (19th May) will see Nubia step foot in India too. The brands are looking at a prosperous growth in the Indian continent, mainly after a successful launch of OnePlus and Xiaomi last year and a few others such as Gionee and OPPO before. With a huge playground of the smartphone-crazy fans in India, Meizu and Nubia are both looking forward to possibly break the smartphone market by introducing high-end premium looking smartphones on a budget-friendly price.
Meizu is rumoured to be launcing the M1 Note, apart from another one, here in India. The M1 Note sports a 5.5-inch full HD display with a 1920x1080 pixel resolution. Its display panel is manufactured by Sharp and protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3. The Mi Note is powered by an 8-core 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6752 chipset, featuring 2GB of RAM and a MALI-T760MP2 graphics processor. It will also feature a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. Similar to the one available outside India, the M1 Note is also expected to be available in two internal storage variants—16GB and 32GB. The phablet will also sport a dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless connectivity along with Bluetooth v4.0, GPS and GLONASS. The Meizu M1 Note closely represents Apple’s iPhone 5C, which sports various bright colours.
Nubia has something better in store for the sensitive and performance-hungry Indian fans. Nubia has a few smartphones under their brand, such as the Nubia Z9, Z9 Max and Z0 Mini. While the Z9 and Z9 Max are above 5-inch phablets, the Z9 Mini is a 5-incher. The Chinese brand is rumoured to announce two smartphones to impress the smartphone seekers. The brand will mostly launch the Nubia Z9, which sports a high-end hardware along with an edge-to-edge display. The Z9 is a 4G handset and will sport a 5.2-inch full HD borderless display with a Snapdragon 810 chipset (octa-core 64-bit) with 3GB of RAM with 16MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. An inbuilt 32GB storage, NFC, 2900mAh battery and dual band Wi-Fi are other features. The smartphone was launched in China, early this month, and was one of the first to sport a borderless display.
Nubia is also rumoured to launch the Z9 Mini alongside the flagship Z9. The Z9 Mini will sport a lower-end Snapdragon 615 chipset with 2GB RAM and a 5-inch full HD display. 16GB internal storage, 16MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, and a 2900mAh battery will complete the rest of the features. We expect the prices to be affordable, unlike the higher brands such as Samsung, HTC and others. The Z9 is presently available in the US for $370 (approx Rs 36,000), while the Mini costs $280 (approx Rs 18,000).
Following the launch of the two smartphone brands, the next day will highlight the launch of India’s first media streaming device, TeeWe. The device is a wireless HDMI streamer, similar to Chromecast, which directly attaches to your television set using the HDMI port and needs no cables or wires. Now you play YouTube videos, files on your phone, tablet or laptop, all on the biggest screen in your home with ease. An app, Teewe app, can be installed on your smartphone, which can be used to control the device for play, pause, seek, volume and a few more. Using the device, you can also search for online media content using the integrated search on your smartphone. The Teewe would be priced at Rs 1,999, cheaper than Chromecast. Teewe supports full HD 1080p (1920x1080 pixels) and connects to your home’s existing wireless network. The Teewe sports a dual-core ARM Cortex A9 Processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, 1GB of DDR3 RAM and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n networking.
