The victims had a love marriage a few months ago against the wishes of their families
Hyderabad: A newly married couple committed suicide at their home in Bahadurpally in the early hours of Sunday. The victims had a love marriage a few months ago against the wishes of their families and after that started living separately, cops said.
The couple identified as Venkatesh, 25, and Preethi, 24, hanged themselves from the ceiling fan with the same sari. Dundigal police said the families of the couple stay at Jeedimetla. The couple who were neighbours loved each other, left their families about three months ago and got married. About 10 days ago they took a penthouse on rent in Bahadurpalli belonging to one Ramesh.
Venkatesh claimed that he was working for a private firm in Gandimaisamma. “Venkatesh used to go to work everyday while Preethi was a homemaker. The couple was rarely seen outside. The neighbours saw them last at 4 pm on Saturday,” said inspector G. Venkateshwarlu.
The incident came to light on Sunday when the owner grew suspicious as the couple didn’t come out even at 10 am.
“When there was no response he peeped through the window and found the couple hanging from the ceiling fan on the same sari,” said Mr Venkateshwarlu.
No suicide note was found. A was booked. Police suspect the couple may have comiited suicide due to financial problems. They are also investigating if they were depressed as they were living separately from their families after marriage. The families were informed and the bodies were shifted to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem.
