Inner strife rife in parties
Focus of all districts in state shifts to the capital region
Vijayawada: All the major political parities in the city are facing a challenge from internal disputes. It confines not to one party, but presently all main political parties are facing trouble from internal rivalries. Though internal rivalry is a common issue in politics, it gained significance as the entire focus of the 13 districts is on the city politics after its surroundings were selected for the capital city.
Especially, the leaders of the Telugu Desam and the YSR Congress are facing a problem due to internal disputes and even relations are strained among the MLAs, ministers and MPs in city and district. The disputes between MP Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) and minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao are still on. Mr Nani allegedly commented against Mr Umamaheswara Rao many times but the two groups are continuing their show differently. Similar atmosphere prevails between Ganna-varam MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi and Devineni Umamaheswara Rao.
Besides, mayor K. Sridhar is also facing trouble from his own TD corporators due to lack of support. Actually, the TD corporators are campaigning against mayor Sridhar and his stance on various issues in the local body’s regular functioning. It is resulting in the the YSRC corporators increasing their attack against the mayor. A TD corporator, on condition of anonymity, said that his own party corporators are the reason behind the allegations which were made by YSRC corporators against the mayor.
On the other hand, the opposition YSRC leaders have not changed their attitude right from the beginning. The meeting of city YSRC leaders Jaleel Khan, Vangaveeti Radhakrishna and P. Goutam Reddy is very rare. They never met to discuss about city development or any other civic issues. The party leaders have also not conducted city party meet jointly at least once in a year, and significantly the YSRC is not maintaining at least city party office also.
Meanwhile, the Left parties are also facing a problem. CPI senior leader K. Subba Raju opted for rest from the developments. Interestingly, he is making press statements personally than in the name of his party and former MLA status.
Likewise, some distance is being maintained among Congress leaders Devineni Nehru group and former MLA Malladi Vishnu. But, they are working under a common platform at this present juncture as the party is under crisis.
