Asha is passionate about acting and clearly knows how to follow her passion. She chooses roles very carefully. Her two films Swargathekkal Sundaram and Kumbasaram are ready for release. She plays a teacher in Kumbasaram.
Asha says, “The role of a teacher in Kumbasaram is a favourite of mine. It is inspirational. It is about how a teacher influences a boy, a leading character in the movie. It is a short role, but the role has its own importance in the movie and that’s what I liked about it. You don’t need a full length role to show your skill but a small one can create a huge impact.”
In Swargathekkal Sundaram, she plays one of the lead heroines. “This is the first time I am doing a full length role. I play Sreenivasan’s wife. It was a wonderful experience working with him.
Swargathekkal Sundaram has a relevant storyline.” Asha says that she is not keen to do many movies. “I am getting offers for various roles. But most of them have the same pattern and I don’t want to repeat my roles. There have been times when I had no idea how a role that I chose to do was going to shape up in the movie. At times, certain roles never get the significance as promised. Hence, I believe it is important to choose carefully.”
Asha is a prominent face in advertisements and she has now taken a break from her job in Infopark to follow her passion for acting and to spend quality time with her family. “I love doing advertisements more because the comfort level is big. The shoot is not long and it is not stressful. Having said that, I give equal importance to films.”
Talking about a role she would like to play in future, Asha says, “I love playing comedy characters . Comedy suits me better than serious roles.”
