The ambitious project which opened this week received lukewarm response

Mumbai: Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Bombay Velvet’ floundered at the box office, earning around 5 crores on its opening day. The film has been unanimously denounced by critics, with Trade analyst Taran Adarsh pronouncing it as a ‘disaster’.

Yesterday, Anurag Kashyap addressed the criticism saying he is not depressed by the lukewarm response to the ambitious project. He said, "It's time to close the book and move on. It has been a journey, as if one life is over with 'Bombay Velvet'. A lot of people do not connect with it and a small number of people did... Maybe our experimenting with the narrative didn't work for most but I firmly believe in the film. I am very happy that all those who have been part of this journey firmly stand with it. No I am not depressed or hiding, this has taught us a lot and is my absolute personal favourite, there have been no regrets whatsoever."

While ‘Barfi’ director Anurag Basu went on to support the filmmaker, several took the opportunity to degrade his reputation. 'AAG' director Ram Gopal Verma, known for his maverick works, just couldn’t resist commenting on it. And a Twitter war followed between these two.

Also, on the day 'Bombay Velvet' released, Ram Gopal Varma posted, "The bottom line is everyone makes an AAG and till he makes his own AAG he will bitch about others AAGS until he too burns in his own AAG." He went on to add, "My velvety tears for the maker of a disaster like AAG are for the tragedy, that by being the butt of it,he himself doesn't get to fuck it. Because I am 1st maker of AAG I think I have experience and right to lay them on a velvety cushion nd console the future AAGIANS."

Let's leave it to Ram Gopal Varma to find himself wrapped in a controversy.
