Chandrababu Naidu for Narasimhulu to be appointed Governor
Hyderabad: Telugu Desan president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has recommended the name of senior Telangana TD leader Mothukupally Narasimhulu to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for appointment as Governor of some state other than the two Telugu speaking states.
Highly placed sources in Telugu Desam told this newspaper that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had approved this proposal when it came in from an NDA ally, and it will be done once he returns to India after touring China, Mongolia and South Korea.
There are nine vacancies for the gubernatorial posts after the NDA establishment either accepted the resignations tendered by the UPA appointees or dismissed a few of them who did not put in their papers.
Before leaving for the foreign trip, the President, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, had appointed four Governors. There are still five more clear vacancies to be filled up.
The TD president had recommended Mr Narasimhulu’s name to rehabilitate the Dalit leader from Telangana after he was defeated in the last year general elections. Mr Narasimhulu was earlier elected six times to the AP Assembly and had served as minister in the Cabinets of late N.T. Rama Rao and N. Chandrababu Naidu.
When Mr Narasimhulu met Mr Naidu on Saturday, he was given hints on his appointment as Governor by this month-end.
The TD president had earlier promised his Telangana party leaders that he will use his good offices with Central government in the appointments for nominated posts including the post of Governor. Mr Naidu told them that the TD, being a part of the NDA, is entitled to get a few politically nominated posts from the Centre and promised to get at least three appointments from the region.
However, the Union government has not initiated the political appointments as yet. Meanwhile, Mr Chandrababu Naidu has appointed two Telangana TD MLAs G. Sayanna and Sandra Venkata Veeraiah as TTD Board Members.
