Anantapur: Kadapa SP Naveen Gulati has taken a serious stand against cops having connections with red sander smugglers. ASI G. Obanna Yadav and constable K. Bhaskar of Vontimitta police station were suspended in connection with the 18 red sander logs which went missing from the police station on Friday. The logs were recovered by the police and kept at the police station.
Holding ASI Obanna Yadav and constable Bhaskar responsible for the missing red sander logs, SP Gulati suspended the duo based on a report by Kadapa DSP Ashok Kumar. Faction zone DSP B. Sreenivasulu and his team solved the case and seized the logs within 24 hours.
Another head constable and two more constables of Sambepalli PS were also suspended for nexus with the smugglers and passing on information about combing operations. Two constables from Vonti-mitta circle were also taken into custody over alleged connections with red sanders smugglers.
A senior official told DC that the two cops were being grilled to extract information about their nexus with smugglers.
