Petro price hike draws flak
GUNTUR: The leaders of Communist Party of India and its associate organisations demanded the Union government to roll back the increased price of petrol and diesel, during a road blockade on Saturday.
The CPI cadres led by CPI state secretary K. Ramakrishna squatted on the Guntur-Amara-vati main road at Sankar Vilas Centre. Addressing the protest rally, Mr Ramakrishna ridiculed that BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi increased petrol and diesel prices as a burdened gift on the completion of one year rule.
Mr Ramakrishna expressed fear that the prices of vegetables, rice, cereals and all food items would increase due to increase of petrol and diesel prices. He alleged that the government has increased Rs 7.50 and Rs 5.50 on petrol and diesel two times in the past one week which shows the shunning of public welfare. He said that they will conduct protests against it.
