Parsigutta cleaned before CM’s visit
Hyderabad: Much before the launch of the Swachh Hyderabad programme, the roads and the entire area of Parsigutta, which is in Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s ward, were cleaned up on Saturday.
The area that had been neglected for years, was given a touch-up before the CM’s arrival. Potholes were repaired, garbage was lifted and roads were swept clean. Trees too were pruned. Sanitation staff were specially directed to clean up the area before Mr Rao’s visit.
Later, participating in the Swachh Hyderabad programme, the CM himself cleared the garbage. “The garbage in front of our own homes will not be cleaned by our neighbours. Instead, we should clean it ourselves. Cleanliness should always start at our homes,” the CM said, adding that separate bins should be used to segregate wet and dry garbage.
Meanwhile, local residents revealed that garbage lifting is done only once in a while, roads are never repaired and there are traffic snarls in the evenings due to bad roads and this often leads to accidents.
P. Sai, a resident of Madhuranagar, said, “Dog menace has been an issue for years, but never did the veterinary wing deal with it. However, on Saturday, many dogs were taken away.”
Besides, the area has no proper drainage system resulting in water stagnation during rains. Vans with banners reading “Instant Repair Team” toured the area. The garbage bin at Madhuranagar colony, which was never cleaned before, was cleared before the Chief Minister’s visit.
