Local AIADMK against Radhakrishnan re-entry

Anitha was suspended from the DMK two days ago

Thoothukudi: The Tiruchendur DMK MLA, Anitha Radhakrishnan’s statement that he is ready to join the AIADMK triggered shock waves in the ruling party’s Thoothukudi district unit, as several party leaders here started sending messages to the party high command against him. Anitha Radhakrishnan was suspended from the DMK two days ago.

According to an office-bearer of the Thoothukudi district unit of AIADMK, Anitha Radhakrishnan, quit the party in 2009, after enjoying all benefits as AIADMK minister for more than four-and-a-half years since 2002.

He now wished to return, as he could not benefit anything from the DMK due to the latter’s strongman in Thoothukudi, N Periyasamy, a DMK veteran here.

Anitha Radhakrishnan’s open appeal to the party high command to rejoin the party is also said to have shocked his political rivals in the Thoothukudi AIADMK, the state minister and the party’s district secretary, S P Shanmuganathan and the Thoothukudi MLA and former minister, S T Chellapandian.

Both are said to stand united against allowing Anitha Radhakrishnan into the party as he during his tenure in AIADMK as minister and district secretary muffled other voices within the party.

Anitha Radhakrishnan, when contacted over phone, however, said that he desires to rejoin AIADMK not expecting political benefits or safeguarding his businesses but out of sheer loyalty towards the party and its high command Amma’, who he said elevated him to the highest position. I highly regret joining the DMK and willing to rejoin AIADMK out of realization that ‘Amma’ alone can lead the state progress,” he added.
