Reduce escorts: Paravur sex-scandal case victim

Paravoor scandal victim cites difficulty at work

Kochi: The victim in the Paravoor sex scandal case on Friday moved the Kerala High Court seeking reduction in the number of police personnel accompanying her for providing protection. The court ordered to produce the trial court order on the police protection for her.

A division bench comprising Justice T. R. Ramachandran Nair and Justice P. B. Suresh Kumar issued the directive after the 20-year-old victim moved the court seeking to stop cops accompanying her. The victim was raped by 141 persons in 2011. She is now staying in Kakkanad Mahila Mandiram.

She submitted before the court that she had started working as a clerk in a government office and at present she was finding it hard to go to office and to her residence owing to the public attention she was getting due to the presence of three police constables, including a male.

She contended that both at her workplace and other places she was not able to move around freely. She contended that she was literally under house arrest. She submitted that she would intimate the concerned police station if she receives any threat.
