Habitual offender helped AR cops: SP Gajarao Bhupal
They threatened the victims at gun point posing as cops
Nellore: The three armed reserve constables involved in robbing Rs 82 lakh from two persons travelling in Navajeevan Express on Thursday have been identified as Guddanti Kiran Babu, 26, of Epurupalem in Chirala mandal, Chirigiri Ravi, 29, of Anumanapalle in Racharla mandal and Tupili Siva Krishna, 27, of Mocharla in Gudluru mandal of Prakasam.
They were selected as AR constables in 2011 and working in police special party. Nellore SP Gajarao Bhupal has shared the information about the case to the media persons here on Friday. According to the SP, Devara Nagaraju of Vedallapalle in Guntur had alerted the constables about the two persons carrying the cash to Chennai. Nagaraju was involved in some criminal cases in the past.
Some relatives of Nagaraju living in Kavali have been watching the movements of the victims Vemuri Ramaiah and Biyyapu Suneel, who are season boys (daily commuters who get any item from Chennai for a commission) in Kavali, from quite some time. They alerted Nagaraju when they noticed the duo collecting cash from some gold traders and going to the railway station on Thursday. The three constables along with Nagaraju and four others followed them and boarded the train along with them.
They threatened the season boys at gun point claiming as police and forced them to get down when the train moving slowly at Padugupadu in Nellore, under the pretext of taking them to the DSP of Kavali.
They robbed the cash and pushed them out of the car. Based on their complaint, Kavali rural circle inspector Madhu Babu alerted the higher officials and paved way for nabbing the three constables within 5 hours after the incident.
