Boy dies on way for treatment
Chennai: An eight-year-old boy from Guwahati died while flying from Kolkata to Chennai, on Thursday. The boy was made to fly to Chennai to receive treatment at a private hospital here. Sahibul Ahmed Asam, son of businessman Billaluddin Ruskar of Guwahati, in Assam, was suffering from a chronic health problem in his stomach and was receiving treatment at several hospitals in his native place. The boy travelled from Kolkata to Chennai on Thursday for further treatment at a private hospital.
The flight, Spicejet No. SG622, departed from Kolkata at 4.20 pm. Sources say, the boy’s health condition worsened during the journey. Following this, the flight captain immediately contacted air traffic control and raised a request for immediate landing on priority basis at Chennai airport. Soon after, permission was granted and the flight landed immediately around 6.45 pm.
The medical team at the airport that was ready, entered the flight and found the boy unconscious. The team later declared the boy as brought dead. Soon, other passengers in the flight were deplaned and the boy’s body brought out after that. The body was sent for post-mortem to the government hospital in Chromepet. The body was handed over to the boy’s parents after autopsy on Friday, after which the couple returned home.
The airport police registered a case of unnatural death in this connection.
