Hyderabad: Man kills three of family over property row
Hyderabad: A man went on a killing spree on Friday and murdered his mother, wife and daughter following a property dispute at their residence in Sri Sai Nagar at Balapur in Pahadishareef.
S. Rami Reddy, a realtor, attacked the victims with a knife and stabbed them multiple times. Sources said he would have frequent fights with his elder brother S. Govind Reddy and his mother, demanding additional share in the family property. Rami Reddy lived with his wife Radhika, 40, and children Pratyusha, 16, and Akshya, 14, on the ground floor of their house while his brother and his family live on the first floor along with their parents. The family had constructed the house about a year ago and Rami Reddy’s family moved to their portion eight months ago.
According to Pahadishareef police, there had been disputes between Rami Reddy and his brother over the property recently as Rami was unhappy with his share and would always complain to his mother. The brothers were not on speaking terms. “As he was continuously pestering his mother, she had promised to construct an additional floor and asked him to occupy his brother’s portion on the first floor. But even after that he continued to pressurise her,” said P. Venkateshwarlu, inspector Pahadishareef.

On Friday, between 3.30 am and 4 am, Rami attacked his family while they were sleeping. “He first slit his wife’s throat and then rushed to another bedroom where his mother and kids were sleeping. He stabbed his mother in stomach and neck. His daughter ran into the kitchen but he followed and stabbed her also, ” Mr Venkateshwarlu said.
Killer tried to frame brother
After killing his family members, Rami Reddy had tried to escape after his brother Govind Reddy, found him with a bloody knife and bodies lying in pools of blood.
After seeing the situation, Mr Govind Reddy went upstairs to make calls and Rami Reddy chose that moment to escape. He ran for about one kilometre through a field before falling into a well, where he was noticed by locals. Police was alerted and cops hauled him out of the well.
The situation, however, took a dramatic turn when Rami Reddy claimed that his elder brother had killed his family for property. “He may have tried to mislead the police by claiming it was his brother who killed his family for property. He wanted to acquire his share after eliminating them. His elder daughter informed the same,” said Pahadishareef inspector P. Venkateshwarlu.
Cops, led by Shamshabad division ACP R. Sudershan, had to put in a lot of effort to fish him out of the well. The bodies were shifted to the Osmania General Hospital and were handed over to the family after post-mortem.
