Jazz up your staircase
The space under a staircase is hardly given any importance or attention and usually ends up as an eyesore. But with a few creative ideas, this space that leads you to the different areas of your home, can turn from being an eyesore to an attractive corner.
Interior designer Raajsree Ram gives a few tips on how you can change the look of this area.
The staircase can be decorated with wallpaper. You can paint each step in a different bright colour or write a quote on each step. You can further beautify it by placing a sculpture near the beginning of the steps.
You could add a few plants next to the stairs that can do without too much sunlight. The wall adjacent to the staircase can also be a place to display exotic artefacts that you have gathered during your travels.
Another interesting idea is to place lights below the staircase, which will help light up the whole space. The space could also be used to stow your sports gear, like golf clubs, tennis rackets and shoes.
An excellent idea would be to combine art and utility by having a chest of drawers with a painting hanging over it. The steps can also double up as drawers and you can us this space to store old newspapers and magazines or put your laundry there.
