I hope to play for India again: Sreesanth

Former pacer who recently became a father, feels his baby girl will be lucky for him

Two years after being arrested by the Delhi police for his alleged role in spot-fixing in IPL matches, S. Sreesanth is in a much better frame of mind. His wife, Bhuvaneshwari Kumari, has just given birth to a baby girl and Sreesanth hopes that the new arrival will bring a change in his fortunes.

“We haven’t decided on a name yet. Probably in June or July the naming ceremony will be performed,” adds the bowler who is busy with his shooting schedules. “It is a tradition in our family where the name of the newborn is decided by the grandparents; therefore, mine and my wife’s parents will decide the name of our daughter,” he added.

The 33-year-old cricketer-turned-actor, who has been served a life ban, still hopes to play for the country. “I am waiting for a positive outcome of the case. The verdict is scheduled for later this month. I shall be in court (in Delhi) and if freed, which I hope I will be, I will appeal to the Indian cricket board to allow me to play club cricket and first class matches, so as to return to the national side,” said Sreesanth.
