Street fighting: Parents of 2 boys knew about Nabeel’s murder

The nine accused people were sent to judicial remand on Thursday

Hyderabad: The police has found that the parents of two accused individuals in the Nabeel murder case knew about the murder days before it was reported, but did not inform the police or the victim’s parents.

The police who booked a case against the accused for concealing evidence, are exploring the possibility of booking a case against the parents also. The nine accused people were sent to judicial remand on Thursday.

The main accused Owais Patel confessed that he was angry before the fight as others made fun of his dress, shoes and hairstyle. The police revealed that when Nabeel was taken to hospital the doctors at the local hospital did not take him in as a patient or officially record his death.

According to the confession of the accused people, Owais, who punched Nabeel to death, used to claim that he wears branded shirts and shoes.

“When Owais made the claim others mocked him stating that his clothes and shoes were bought from the footpaths of Puranapul. When he said he had a new haircut at a posh salon they said it was done by a roadside barber. He was provoked and wanted to show his superiority by fighting and defeating them. At first, Abubakker and Sulemanuddin, fought with Owais and lost. Nabeel was asked to fight him next,” said south zone DCP V. Satyanarayana.

The officials said that when the accused took Nabeel’s body on a bike to the Durru Shevar Hospital they did not formally examine him.

“A doctor came out of the hospital and checked him at the gate and declared that he was dead. There was no official recording of this,” said an investigation official, adding that police had inquired about the hospital’s negligence.
