Seers upset over Home Minister’s remark on Ram temple

Mr Vedanti said that by October 2016, the BJP will have a majority in the Rajya Sabha

Lucknow: Saints and seers in Ayodhya have warned the BJP not to betray the temple on the issue of construction of Ram temple. Taking umbrage over the statement made by Union home minister Rajnath Singh that enactment of a law regarding construction of Ram temple was not possible since the BJP did not have a majority in the Rajya Sabha, former BJP MP and member of the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas, Ram Vilas Vedanti, told reporters on Thursday:

“Rajnath Singh, as president of the BJP, in 2013 had promised the saints that if voted to power his party would enact a law for the construction of the temple and it is the duty of the BJP to uphold its promise.”

Mr Vedanti said that by October 2016, the BJP will have a majority in the Rajya Sabha. He said that till its gets a majority in the Upper House, the Modi government should hand over the undisputed 67 acres land to the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas and for the rest of the disputed piece of land, it can wait till 2016 to enact a law.

Ram Janambhoomi Nyas president Mahant Nritya Gopal Das also said that the Centre should start the process for resolving the issue and not make excuses.
