Karnataka SSLC exams: Underprivileged students overcome all odds

Thirty one students, hailing from underprivileged families, had appeared for the exam

Bengaluru: Indus International Community School (IICS), an equal opportunity institution for underprivileged children, has scored 100 per cent pass percentage in the SSLC examination and 35 per cent have scored distinction.

Thirty one students, hailing from underprivileged families, had appeared for the exam. Chandana Ramesh, daughter of a daily wage worker, scored 91% and wants to become a journalist.

She hopes to create awareness about the challenges faced by children from underprivileged backgrounds. Another student Sanya scored 88% and wants to become a cardiologist.

The Managing Trustee of the school, Sarojini Rao, said the school’s goal for next year would be to further improve academic record and aim for top ranks in SSLC examination.

“I realised that only excellence in the education could change the lot of my family, to achieve this I had to study hard and think positive, despite many difficult moments that my family have to go through each day, said Tulasi, Head Girl of IICS. The parents of these children work as daily wage labourers, farmers and taxi drivers.
