Mysuru rape case handed over to CID
Mysuru: A month after a retired IAS officer’s daughter lodged a complaint of rape and attempt to murder against her brother in law, as well as a case of domestic violence, dowry harassment, abetment to crime by their elder son against her in laws, the State Government has handed over the case to the CID. Mysuru City Police have received an official order in this regard on Wednesday, confirmed Mysuru City Police Commissioner, Mr B. Dayanand.
The former Mysuru City Police Commissioner Dr M. A. Saleem had recommended that case be transferred to the CID, he said, as did the complainant, Mr Om Prakash. Mr Dayanand says that a “fair and judicious investigation was conducted,” but was his opinion sought over transferring the case? “It is the government order, we have to abide by it,” he said.
The victim’s advocate Captain Arvind Sharma, said the complainant had expressed a lack of confidence in the Investigating officer. She appealed for the transfer of the case from the Jurisdiction of Mysuru to elsewhere but hadn’t specified the CID. She also he said the IO’s presence was intimidating and his behaviour was unbecoming of a man of his position.
She also said the IO had been seen with associates of the accused and his advocate Mr Arun Kumar, who was present at the Mahazar. After the investigation was conducted on 21 April at the scene of the crime, she was reportedly summoned by the IO to the Infosys campus in Mysuru to record her statement, for which she sought time.
Also the IO had issued a notice to her to appear before him on 23 April, the very day the remainder of her statement was to be recorded before the Bengaluru magistrate. “He pressurized her into giving one more statement, attempting to secure a distorted version favouring the accused,” Mr Sharma said.
