IPL 8: Police constable loses eyesight after David Miller’s six hits him
Mumbai: While his teammates love his presence in the middle, David Miller is termed as a nightmare by any opposition. However, the big-hitting South African injured a police constable during the ongoing edition of Indian Premier League.
During his 27-run knock against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 9, Miller smashed two fours and two sixes. While his knock could not stop KKR from winning the game, one of Miller’s sixes injured a right eye of a police constable, according to a ‘DNA’ report.
The report added, a 53-year-old constable, Alok Aich, is getting treated in a South Kolkata hospital following the injury. Aich, who works as a driver for the Deputy Commissioner of the 5th Battalion of Kolkata Police Debashish Sarkar, was stationed at the G-Block of the Eden Gardens when a ball hit him.
Aich was rushed to the hospital and admitted in the Intensive Care Unit before the hospital authorities moved him to the general ward. However, Aich lost vision in his right eye.
Rajeev Mishra, Special Additional and Joint Commissioner of Kolkata Police, said that the police administration assured Aich’s family of providing help.
