Former Australian opening batsman Matthew Hayden calls applicants for England's coach job 'crazy'
London: Former Australian Opener Matthew Hayden claims that anyone who applies for the job of England's coach would be "crazy".
Hayden said that the coach would have no power whatsoever and would be the 'target' by the establishment to be kicked, the BBC reported.
Jason Gillespie and Justin Langer are considered as 'favourites' for England's new coach, after Peter Moores was sacked by the newly appointed director Andrew Strauss.
Hayden said that the decision to exclude Kevin Pietersen in spite of scoring a brilliant 355 not out for Surrey, shows that the new coach would merely be an 'assistant' to England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
He added that England would be facing hard times in the future and that's why they need to solve the issues as early as possible, failing to which they can fall behind in the Test rankings.
However, former England captain Michael Vaughan believes that the best man should jump to coach England and it could be anyone, adding that if provided an opportunity, Gillespie would jump at the chance.
