Yaduveer set to ascend Mysore throne

Yaduveer is returning to the country next week after completing his graduation in the US

Mysuru: Mr Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, who has been anointed heir to the Mysore throne, is returning to the country next week after completing his graduation at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in the United States.

With this, speculation is rife over the dates of his coronation ceremony. Royal family sources told Deccan Chronicle, “The coronation will be held well ahead of the Dasara celebrations. The palace will make the announcement soon,” they said.

“His graduation ceremony was on May 8. His biological parents Swarup Anand Gopalraj Urs and Tripurasundaradevi and a few other close relatives attended it. But Maharani Pramodadevi Wadiyar, who has adopted Yaduveer, could not attend the ceremony” the sources said.

On his Facebook page, Yaduveer has posted, “Finished Graduating, and with it I close the last chapter of my former persona... looking ahead for new beginnings in Mysuru”.

Parakal Math sources said that late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar had grown with his father Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar and was accustomed to the rituals carried out by the Maharaja as part of the tradition.

“Now, Yaduveer has to familiarise himself with the Vedas, certain sthothras and poojas to carry on with the tradition of the royal family. He has to learn now Shodasha pooja, Kalasha Sthaapana, Nithya Pooja, Ganapathi Pooja, Saraswathi Pooja and others,” they said.
