ATVMs to reduce waiting time in queues for passengers
Vijayawada/Guntur: As part of introducing latest technology to ease the ticket buying by passengers, Automated Ticket Vending Machines were installed at Vijayawada and Guntur railway stations on Wednesday. Vijayawada divisional railway manager K. Ashok Kumar inaugurated eight ATVMs in Vijayawada railway station. The machines were installed at main ticket booking counters and two entrances.
The Railways also installed 17 ticket vending machines across the railway division. The passenger will get tickets with five per cent lesser charge from the actual fare if they obtain tickets from vending machines. The ticket vending machines will be more useful for passengers in the morning hours when there will be heavy rush.

Mr Sharma said the ATVMs will reduce the waiting time in queues for the passengers, who can operate the user friendly ATVMs that are kept at conspicuous pla-ces in the railway station. Passengers can obtain tickets using their smart cards for their respective destinations in ordinary, express and superfast tr-ains on preferred routes or platform tickets that are accessible at UTS co-unters in Guntur station.
On Wednesday, the South Central Railway inaugurated 40 ATVMs at 12 Railway stations — Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Tenali, Tirupati, Guntakal, Khazipet, Nellore, Warangal, Khammam, Nanded, Aurangabad and Guntur, said P. Raju, technical support engineer at Forbes Technosys Limited, which is providing the machines to the Rai-lways under a memorandum of understanding.
He said these 40 machi-nes were among the 312 ATVMs sanctioned as per the agreement. The remaining will be inaugurated on Monday at other railway stations, he added. According to sources, the Indian Railway is planning to install cutting edge technological ticket machines soon.
