Tirupati: Tension prevailed at a marriage held at the Purohita Sangam located near Gogarbham dam in Tirumala when a mentally challenged person suddenly attacked the bride and the groom on Wednesday.
The man, aged about 38 years, tried to strangle Srinadh Babu, the groom, from Karnataka with his towel. He grabbed Anita, the bride, from Korantla in Anantapur district by the neck when she attempted to rescue Srinadh.
Shocked relatives and TTD staff at the venue caught hold of the man and handed him over to the Tirumala crime police who rushed to the spot.
He only uttered the word “Kerala” when the police questioned him. Locals said that they had seen him roaming around the area over the last ten days.
