User traffic slows Class XI admission site

Deadline for online Class XI applications till May 25

Thiruvananthapuram: Students found it difficult to register online for Class XI admission as the website hanged frequently because of heavy traffic on Tuesday, the second day.

The facility for submitting online application for the single-window admission began on www.hscap.kerala.gov.in on Monday. The last date for submitting the online applications is May 25.

Higher Secondary School Teachers' Association (HSSTA) general secretary Sabuji Varghese told Deccan Chronicle that it was usual for the website to hang in the first few days of the opening of the admission portal.

This was the case last year also. “The students need not worry as they have adequate time to complete the registration formalities,” Mr Varghese said.

There is a total of 2,45,795 seats in the merit quota, 38,875 management seats, 20,830 community quota seats and 55,630 seats in unaided schools. Of these, merit quota seats will be filled through the single-window admission process.

The directorate of higher secondary education has started ‘Focus Points’, helpdesks for helping students seeking admission to Plus One courses.

The centres would function at 75 taluk centres from 9.30 am to 4 pm on all weekdays till May 22. The list of such centres would be exhibited at each high school. A help desk would also function at the directorate of higher secondary education.
