Maneka Gandhi accused of slapping, kicking forest staff

The employee has submitted a complaint to the police, but no FIR has been lodged

Lucknow: Union minister for women and child welfare and senior BJP leader, Maneka Gandhi has been accused of slapping and kicking a forest staff in Mala forest range of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve. The employee has submitted a complaint to the police, but no FIR has yet been lodged in the matter.

A senior police official said in Lucknow that the matter was under investigation. In his complaint with Gajraula police, the forest department employee Rooplal has alleged that Ms Maneka Gandhi had slapped and kicked him after she got angry on seeing a jungle fire while on her way to Puranpur to attend a function on Sunday.

Rooplal alleged that the minister stopped at Garha forest barrier in Mala forest range when she saw residue of wheat crop being burnt in adjacent fields. She lost her cool and held him responsible for it. The deputy forest ranger present on the spot fled sensing trouble. And leaving Rooplal to face her wrath. Rooplal told to minister Riyaz Ahmad and district magistrate O.N. Singh.
