KCR focused on Gajwel, neglected city: Ponnam Prabhakar
Ponnam alleged that Mr Rao had laid special emphasis on his own constituency Gajwel
KARIMNAGAR: Former Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar criticised Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for ignoring the development of the district. He alleged that Mr Rao had laid special emphasis on his own constituency Gajwel, but neglected Karimnagar district. Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Mr Prabhakar said that it was regretta-ble that the Chief Minister was allocating hundreds of crores for the development of Gajwell Assembly constituency. At the same time, Mr Rao forgot what he had promised to citizens of Karimnagar district, who voted him on many occasions when he needed people's support, he added.
"The Chief Minister had assured that he would make slippers for people of district with his skin after registering thumping victories from Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency in 2006 and in 2008 by polls. He announced that he would transform the city on the lines of New York and London when he visited the city recently. However, he failed to earmark funds for the development of either the city or the district," he ridiculed.
The Congress leader found fault with Mr Rao for giving paramount importance to Gajwel by neglecting the other Assembly constituencies in the state. We don't have any objection if Mr. Rao wants to develop Gajwell on many fronts, but people of Karimnagar are a worried lot as he forgot his promises and assurances with regard to development of the district.
Referring to RTC employees' strike, Mr Ponnam said that it was conspiracy of the government. He felt that the employees would not have launched the strike if sub-committee was formed in the beginning and proposed solutions.
If the government was determined to address the challenges of the employees, it would have hiked bus fares which could have drawn public ire. In order to avoid this, the government raised curtains for this drama, he accused.
