It was just last year that rumours were doing the rounds in B-town of a more-than-friends equation between Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. The duo never admitted to seeing each other, but the affection between them was there for all to see.
Then, as Varun reconciled with childhood sweetheart Natasha and Alia began to be seen with Sidharth Malhotra at public events, the gossip about Varun and Alia died down. What also seemed to die out was the warm camaraderie they’d once shared, say industry onlookers.
That gossip has only become stronger after Varun failed to invite Alia and Sidharth to the special screening of the first look of his upcoming film ABCD2, sources report. But rather than Varun’s personal equation with Alia, it may have been her ongoing rivalry with Varun’s co-star Shraddha Kapoor that might have been the reason for her being left out of the guest list.
“Look, Varun had invited a select group on his birthday to unveil the first look of ABCD2. Alia’s absence was noticed by those who were present,” says a source.
“But being a common friend between actors, who don’t share a positive equation, can be difficult. Varun is well-versed with the industry, so I’m sure he’ll be able to handle the situation,” our source added.
