BBMP polls in last week of July: Bengaluru city in-charge minister Ramalinga Reddy
Bengaluru: A week after the Supreme Court verdict that the state government should conduct polls to the BBMP within three months, Bengaluru city in-charge minister Ramalinga Reddy said on Monday that elections to the civic body would be held in the last week of July.
He said that a fresh reservation matrix would be announced for all 198 wards in the city soon. In fact, the government had readied the reservation list a few days ago but had scrapped it.
Mr Reddy also said a number of projects initiated with financial support from the Union government under JNNURM scheme had come to a halt as the BJP-led NDA government scrapped the scheme.
The state government, however, would complete all projects announced in the budget utilizing its funds. About Rs 3,500 crores would be available for these projects under 'Nagarotthana' scheme as well as from the state government. Work would commence within six months and efforts would be made to complete all projects within two years.
Besides, construction of flyovers, steel bridges and underpasses and those initiated by Tender Sure would be completed at the earliest, he added.
