Salony Luthra to play a visually challenged girl in her next
Salony Luthra made an impressive debut with a dual role in Sarabham. The leggy actress won rave reviews for her effortless performance for the portrayal of a character with grey shades in the film. She has now been roped in for a short film titled Oliyum Oliyum in which she portrays a blind girl.
Salony, who has already started shooting for it, says that it is a very demanding character. “I play a visually challenged street vendor based at Puducherry. My character is self-respecting and does not consider blindness a handicap, therefore shuns sympathy. Although the role was challenging, I enjoyed doing it because it gave me a lot of understanding.”
Unlike Sarabham, which revolved around an ultra-modern character, Oliyum Oliyum has a deglamourised role. “My cinematographer Arul wanted a tanned look — to achieve it I sat under the sun for three days. This turned out to be interesting, because I ended up selling hair clips and batteries to local ladies, who did not realise that I was part of a shoot. John from London, is my co-star in the film.” Salony adds that she is happy to be part of a film that imparts the message of eye donation.
