Unable to pay debt, Sub-Inspector ends life
BENGALURU: A 58-year-old Sub Inspector attached to Yeshwanthpura traffic police station allegedly committed suicide by hanging at his residence in HMT layout in Jalahalli on Saturday night.
The deceased SI identified as Gangadhar. He was living with his wife and son, who is interior designer. His two daughters are married and settled in the city.
According to police the incident came to light when his son returned home from work and found his father hanging from the ceiling. Gangadhar’s wife had gone to their hometown.
Preliminary inquiry by Jalahalli police revealed that Gangadhar was facing financial problems. He had borrowed loan from a bank and also stood guarantor for his friend to get a loan.
His friend died later and Gangadhar had to repay the loans. He was depressed about this and this may be the reason behind his extreme step, a senior police officer said. Jalahalli police have registered a case.
