Telangana does not want Andhra Pradesh nameplates
Hyderabad: The Telangana government is contending that no institution should function with the AP government’s name on buildings located in the state. If need be, AP can seek the services of these institutions, but cannot function independently. The Telangana State Council for Higher Education (TSCHE) officials have already removed the APSCHE board after taking over the building at Masab Tank.
Though the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to challenge the HC ruling in the Supreme Court, the Telangana government has asked its officials to go ahead and take over these buildings unless the SC issues any directives against this. The heads of these departments were asked to file similar petitions in courts on the lines of TSCHE, to takeover these buildings, to ensure that no legal troubles crop up later. Majority of these buildings are located in Hyderabad.
Following this, officials of the TS Board of Intermediate Education have asked the AP Inter Board to vacate the premises in Nampally immediately and handover the building to TS. There were 107 such institutions in undivided AP. After bifurcation of the state, 97 of them are located in TS.
As per the AP Reorganisation Act, these institutions have to be divided between AP and TS within a year of bifurcation. Though some institutions like APSCHE, APBIE, APPSC etc., were bifurcated, they continue to operate from the same premises in different blocks, which the TS now wants to take over by June 2.
