Hyderabad: A day after Telugu TV actress Harjeet Kaur alias Roopa was rescued while attempting to end her life, the police booked a case against her boyfriend Keval Singh and his parents for allegedly cheating her and took them into custody.
Roopa, 28, in her complaint said she had a relationship with Keval for six months; two months ago, she began staying at Keval’s house with his parents. Though he promised to marry her, Keval, an assistant manager with ICICI, stopped her from acting in serials. Later he asked her not to talk over the telephone. He also used to beat her, she alleged.
“On Saturday he turned her out of the house. She was depressed and came to Hussainsagar to commit suicide,” said Pet Basheerabad inspector A. Subhash Chandra Bose.
A case under IPC Section 493 (cohabitation ca-used by a man deceitfully inducing a belief of lawful marriage) was booked against Keval and a case under Section 420 (cheating) on his parents. Police said a compromise was being worked out.
