Jayalalithaa verdict: 700 policemen near Karnataka High Court

Around 700 policemen will be deployed near the HC premises

BENGALURU: The city police have made elaborate security arrangements near the High Court in view of the High Court pronouncing the verdict on Tamil Nadu’s former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s disproportionate assets case on Monday.

As many as 700 policemen will be deployed near the HC premises. It includes two DCPs, five ACPs, 16 inspectors and others staff. In addition, 10 platoons of the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) will be deployed.

Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Alok Kumar said the police would also frisk people and they will have to pass through metal detectors to enter court premises.

“We have also asked the rural police to alert the staff at check posts at Tamil Nadu border and check all the vehicles entering the state. Though we expect some crowd, we don’t think huge number of people will gather as it had happened when the special court had given its judgment,” Kumar said.

The City Police Commissioner has already imposed prohibitory orders around one kilometre radius of the High Court from 6 am to 9 pm on Monday as a precautionary step.
