10 Hollywood movies that induced tourism boom

Ever since the release of the Disney musical way back in 2013, it has not only won the heart of every child, but also fired up the tourism in Norway. Although the movie takes place in the mythical kingdom of Arendelle, it is loosely based on the Scandinavian country. According to Innovation Norway, which promotes tourism in the country, travel to Norway from the United States jumped 37 percent between January and March, compared to the same period last year.

Ever since Rick Riordan’s influential novels started coming out back in 2005, the tourism in Greece has profited. The books are based on Greek mythology, and they have succeeded in making children want to visit Greece, just so they can pray to their Godly parents and take their rightful place in Camp Half-Blood. Ever since the 1995 movie adaptation of the sensational novel by Jane Austen was shot in Lyme Park, England, the number of people visiting the park increased by 150% because people want to visit the place where a certain William Darcy first cast his eyes on the lovely Elizabeth Bennett in the movie.

Braveheart, a movie that tells us story of the legendary thirteenth century Scottish hero named William Wallace (played by Mel Gibson) came out in 1995 and the next year the amount of people visiting Scotland increased by a massive 300 percent.

The second movie starring in the Mission Impossible franchise starring Tom Cruise was shot in Sydney, Australia and it increased tourism in Sydney by 200 percent just in the year it was released.

Mamma Mia was a musical based on the songs of the successful pop group, ABBA that took place in the serene island of Skiathos in Greece. The movie featured Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Amanda Seyfried and drew tourists from all over the world to the small island in Greece.

Ever since this Iowa based movie starring Kevin Costner came out in 1989, it was so well welcomed by masses that 35000 people visited the legendary baseball diamond in Iowa in 1991 and there has been a steady increase every year since then.

Like it or not, these books by Stephanie Meyer have been influencing people to drive to the rainy town of Forks, where it’s dreary 99% of the time. Twihards have decided to bear the rain and gloom, just in hopes of catching a glimpse of Edward Cullen or Jacob Black, maybe even just a wolf running through the forest.
