Teenager was calm and quiet as she and her family escorted off of plane during emergency
Parents of a child with special needs are always making way for accomodating their children during travel or public events. While most of us are udnerstanding and willing to co-operate with those who need special care and attention, a recent video that is making rounds of the Internet will leave you shocked.
On a flight from Houston, Texas to Portland, Oregon, an American airlines pilot chose to make an emergency landing in order to remove an autistic child and her family, with the assistance of local police authorities.
The apathy of the crew members prompted fellow passengers to record the video which has been making headlines. According to Daily Mail, the mother asked for a hot meal for her daughter, who would otherwise have a "meltdown". To avoid a potential problem, the mother requested for a first-class meal which was served. The girl ate the meal, but within an hour of the incident, the Captain made an announcement that the plane would be making an emergency landing to deal with a passenger with “a behavior issue”.
The mother of the autistic child plans to file a discrimination law suit against airlines for the family’s treatment on the flight.
