Chennai: As many as 1,30,510 engineering aspirants have bought application forms for the government’s single window counselling so far this year. Though on May 6, day 1, Anna University sold 58,600 forms, the number dropped to 22,986 on day 2 but picked up on the next day with 35,397 applicants purchasing forms.
On May 9, a total of 13,545 students bought applications from counters in Anna University, Chennai, and its counters elsewhere in the state. Students can get application forms till May 29 at 60 centres across the state designated by Anna University. Secretary of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA), Prof V. Rhymend Uthariaraj, said the university witnessed the same trend last year, too, So, this year this was not new.
The government’s single window general academic counselling for engineering colleges is likely to begin on July 1. Anna University conducts counselling for 538 government, government-aided, private engineering colleges, apart from the university-run constituent colleges with a total intake of 2.11 lakh seats.
