Singapore wants to be Amaravati developer
Singapore will take part in ‘Swiss Challenge’ for capital
Hyderabad: Singapore government has become the first entity to stake its claim to the prestigious job of “master developer” for construction of a world-class capital for Andhra Pradesh.
Not confining its role to only the preparation of the master plan, Singapore government has informed the state government that it was ready to take up the ‘Swiss Challenge’ for the capital city project.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu wants the capital, named Amaravati, to be a world-class city with vibrant socio-economic and cultural life. As such, the state government has also invited companies from Japan, China, Korea and the United States of America to participate in the construction of capital city in partnership with the AP government.
Indian infrastructure giants like Tata Realty, Tata Projects, L&T and Mahindra, to name a few, have also been invited to give their proposals for construction and development of the capital.
It may be mentioned that the state government has already announced that various projects for construction of capital city would be taken under Public Private Partnership mode.
Sky is the limit for the interested companies, as the AP government wants the best of all world-class cities to be adopted for AP capital construction. Any company or a consortium can submit its plans to the government.
Speaking to this correspondent, municipal administration principal secretary Giridhar Aramane said the capital city master plan will be put up on the public domain by May-end or the first week of June, based on which the companies have to come up with their proposals for best infrastructure and investment they can bring. The best plan would be thrown up for the Swiss Challenge method and the company or consortia submitting an even better plan would get the job of master developer.
