Maoists execute man in Sukma after PM Modi's visit to neighbouring Dantewada

Sadaram, 32, was executed after being tried by a kangaroo court set up by the Maoists

Raipur: Maoists late on Saturday evening brutally killed a tribal who was among the approximately 300 villagers abducted by them in Murenga panchayat, under Tongpal police limits in Chhattisgarh’s south Bastar district of Sukma.

Sadaram, 32, was executed after being tried by a kangaroo court set up by the Maoists in a nearby jungle in the presence of around 300 villagers who had been held hostage by them since Friday midnight. The abduction occurred barely 12 hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to visit a neighbouring area.

The Maoists, however, released the other villagers later. “The Maoists killed Sadaram and released the other villagers they had held captive,” Sukma district superintendent of police D. Sravan told this newspaper. Around 300 tribals from five villages under Murenga panchayat were herded into the jungle by a large group of armed Maoists at around midnight Friday.
