State government may ask actors to help with Swachh Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The Telangana Government is currently focusing on turning the State Formation Day (starting June 2) into a grand celebration. There are several events being planned, which aim to highlight the art and culture of the state. And there’s also a special teaming up with the Telugu film industry.
According to insiders, the government is planning to use the services of personalities from the film industry for a ‘Swachh Hyderabad campaign’. The state government has earmarked special funds for the cleanliness campaign that was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “It’s a social cause and the leadership wants big stars to campaign for it.
They are also planning a 5K run to kickstart the drive and many film personalities may participate in it,” added the source. Insiders are saying actor Nagarjuna — now a major link between the CM and the film fraternity — may take a lead role in the campaign.
Also, it has been revealed the film industry may play close to no role in the upcoming Formation Day festivities. “No participation from the film industry,” confirmed Mamidi Hari Krishna, director of the Telangana cultural and language department. “But we are planning a Telangana film festival, where films based on Telangana will be screened at the festival,” he added.
