IPL 8 DD vs SRH: Six players you cannot miss

SRH will look to rectify inconsistent performance in IPL, take on DD in Raipur

Raipur: It has been an inconsistent performance from the David Warner-led Sunrisers Hyderabad this Indian Premier League, but the Orange Army will look to rectify the situation when they take on an out-of-contention Delhi Daredevils side, here in Raipur on Saturday.

While Warner and his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan have not missed out in providing the vital starts for their side, the story for Delhi has not looked good, with the most expensive buy Yuvraj Singh almost looking scratchy barring a couple of bursts.

SRH will have to win this match if they want to keep their hopes alive to qualify for the play-offs, DD will play for pride. Here are some players who could make a difference to the encounter as it pans out in Raipur.

Delhi Daredevils

Shreyas Iyer

Young and confident Shreyas Iyer has carried on his great form going into the IPL. He remains the only uncapped batsman in the 300-club this season. With an impressive first class season, 20-year-old Iyer has ticked all the boxes, and now is one of DD’s premier batsman to provide the Delhi outfit with good starts. Iyer would greedily like to add more runs to his tally during this match. (Photo: BCCI)

Albie Morkel

One half of the Morkel brothers, Albie Morkel, though featuring only in two games for DD has shown what an asset he is for the team, both with the bat and the ball. With scores of 73* and 5* coupled with a good economy rate, Morkel has not been used well by Gary Kirsten and the coaching staff, coming to the crease very late. If he does manage to get a game on Saturday, the move might just work in DD’s favour. (Photo: BCCI)

Nathan Coulter-Nile

Australian right-arm fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile has been nothing short of impressive this season. Providing DD with the timely breakthrough and being very stingy giving away runs, Coultner-Nile has, on an average added a wicket or two to his name every time he has featured for the side and come Saturday, he will hope to repeat the same. Sunrisers Hyderabad

David Warner

Leading from the front, SRH skipper David Warner has always delivered for his side and now, the skipper’s contribution proves vital for the Orange Army. But what may seem to be worrying coach Tom Moody is that off late, Warner has just managed to score 28 runs and going into this match, the fierce captain will look to rectify those numbers. Karn Sharma

His legbreak googlies can be a huge problem for the opposition batsman specially during the death overs and Karn Sharma has stepped up to his job in times when pace disappoints. With a good economy rate and wickets to his name, 27-year-old Karn will hope that spin works magic on the pitch on Saturday and mind you, he’s also quite useful with the bat scoring those important boundaries in the end. Eoin Morgan

His 28-ball 63 proved to be a match winning one as the Sunrisers Hyderabad outclassed the Rajasthan Royals by seven runs in Mumbai and Eoin Morgan has looked to be the saviour for the SRH middle order. Barring the 63 runs, Morgan has seemed to be in good touch and Warner will hope the English batsman can deliver on Saturday too. (Photo: BCCI)
