TRS pushes for Hyderabad High Court division

Kesava Rao says TS won’t argue in combined HC if Centre delays split
Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samiti general secretary K. Kesava Rao made sensational comments after he led a TRS parliamentarians’ delegation to Union law minister Sadananda Gowda and pressed for immediate bifurcation of the High Court citing various legal and other problems faced by the government, Telangana judicial officials and the people.
TRS MP K. Kavita also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and submitted a memorandum requesting the Centre to initiate steps to bifurcate the High Court through a Cabinet decision and send the resolution to the President of India instead of waiting for the Andhra Pradesh government to seek a High Court.
“We have lost faith in the judicature of the combined High Court. It has come to such a pass that Telangana lands have been given to Andhra people in some cases. If this trend continues, there will be no Telangana,” Dr Kesava Rao remarked.
He added, “We have come to such a stage that if you (Centre) delay it further, we will have no option but to request you to shift our cases to Maharashtra or Karnataka. We will not argue cases in the combined High Court.”
Dr Kesava Rao said the government had taken this stand out of deep frustration and in the interests of people. Dr Kesava Rao said that Mr Gowda patiently heard their plea and promised to take positive action. He also pointed out that Sections 31 and 32 in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act stipulated separate High Courts of both the Telugu states after bifurcation.
Besides Dr Kesava Rao and Ms Kavita, Mr Jitender Reddy, Mr B. Vinod Kumar, Mr B.B. Patil and G. Nagesh were part of the delegation.
