Government officers on foreign tours to avoid heat at home
Hyderabad: With the temperatures in the city soaring, many All India Service officers have left for cooler climates abroad or are making plans to leave soon.
Some of them are on official tours while others are on vacation. At least 10 IAS officers and ministers are going abroad.
AP industries commissioner Kartikeya Mishra has already left for the US with S. Abhista (non-IAS), officer on special duty in the Chief Minister’s Office for a week’s visit.
AP IT secretary B. Sreedhar will be visiting Japan from May 13 to 15 as part of a delegation led by IT minister Palle Raghunath Reddy to participate in the Japan IT week and to meet corporate leaders for investments. AP IT advisor J. Satyanarayana will also be part of the team.
AP energy secretary Ajay Jain will be in the US from May 11 to 13 to attend an Energy Efficiency Global Forum and a workshop organised by the World Bank.
M. Papireddy (Indian Railway Traffic service), will be visiting the US for a month for personal reasons.
AP medical and health minister Kamineni Srinivas will be vacationing in the UK from May 18 to 31. AP municipal administration minister P. Narayana has left for Singapore with officials for capital-related developments.
AP chief secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao, principal finance secretary P.V. Ramesh and special chief secretary (planning) Sanjay Gupta will also be visiting Singapore from May 13 to 15 to study the Singapore Economic Development Board.
Some more officers are planning to go abroad and they have spoken to the general administration department.
