500 artistes to perform on Telangana State Day

Hyderabad: Cultural extravaganza is set to mark the first anniversary of Telangana State Formation Day celebrations in June. As many as 500 artistes from each of the 10 Telangana districts would perform at the LB Stadium on the concluding day of the celebrations on June 7 which will be attended by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
The week-long celebrations will begin on the midnight of June 1 with bursting of crackers for half-an-hour in all the districts. Though the government has sanctioned Rs 10 crore for the celebrations with Rs 1 crore to each district, Rs 20 crore has been earmarked to ensure that there is no dearth of funds even if the expenditure doubles.
Awards will be presented to persons in 18 categories in each district in recognition of their contribution to respective fields like journalism, teachers and other government officials. The TRS government has planned a grand-scale celebration right from the village-level to the state capital level.
It has entrusted the responsibility of holding celebrations to respective district collectors. The government has directed collectors to ensure “festive atmosphere” in districts for a week by decorating government offices, parks and other public places with lighting and flowers and hold cultural programmes daily by involving local artistes, poets and exhibit “Telangana films”.
Events highlighting the historical and cultural significance of Telangana, delicacies of TS and ghazal, qawwalli programmes have also been planned. The celebrations will conclude with sound and light shows and bursting of crackers on June 7.
The programmes are being devised by popular Telangana Dhoom-Dhaam artistes and TRS MLA Rasamayi Balakishan, who is also the chairman of Telangana Saamskrutika Sarathi.
Awards will be presented to persons from mandal-level to state-level. 10 persons will be selected at mandal-level which carries Rs 10,116 each.
