Sensex spurts 506 points after centre bends on MAT

Sensex finished day at 27,105.39,while 50-share Nifty closed on 8,191.50

MUMBAI: The equity markets rebounded sharply on Friday gaining nearly 2 per cent after the government said that it would constitute a separate panel to resolve the issue of MAT that had forced global investors to turn cautious on the Indian market.

However, experts are not fully convinced with Friday’s rally with some of them arguing that it was just a technical pull back as the markets were in oversold territory. While the Sensex soared 506.28 points or 1.90 per cent to end at 27,105.39, the 50-share Nifty climbed 134.20 points or 1.67 per cent to end the trading session at 8,191.50. The Indian rupee, which plunged to a 20-month low on Thursday also recovered to close the day at 63.93 per dollar.
