TRS MP Kavitha seeks PM's intervention in release of funds for farmer

50,000 acres of agriculture lands were damaged due to the unseasonal heavy rains

New Delhi: TRS MP K Kavitha on Friday sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention to release central assistance for farmers, who were hit by unseasonal rains in Telangana.

"I seek your immediate intervention to take steps to release the Central government's share of input subsidy from the National Calamity Fund at the earliest so that the farmers who are struggling in this hour of crisis can be provided adequate relief," she said in a memorandum, which was released after the TRS MP called on the Prime Minister here.

She said that 50,000 acres of agriculture lands and 32,000 hectares of horticulture lands were damaged due to the unseasonal heavy rains in Telangana during March and April.

Raising the issue of a separate High Court for Telangana, she said that the Union Cabinet must take a decision in the regard.

Kavitha further sought setting up of Turmeric Board for the welfare of turmeric farmers in the country.
