Hyderabad: A rashly driven private water tanker crushed to death a man near the Bowenpally dairy farm on Thursday morning. The victim was standing by the road side waiting for his friend when the tanker ran over killing him on the spot.
The deceased, who was identified as G. Kumar Goud, was a private sector employee and a resident of Indiramma Nagar in Quthbullapur.
Bowenpally police said Kumar who works for a company in Panjagutta used to go for work by RTC bus. As RTC employees were on strike Kumar's father dropped him at the dairy farm from where his friend was expected to pick him up. The water tanker which was coming from Kompally and going towards Bowenpally mowed him down near the dairy farm.
“He was standing near the dairy farm by the roadside when the water tanker driver lost control of the vehicle when another vehicle ahead applied sudden brake. In an attempt to avoid from ramming into it the driver hit the victim. Kumar was crushed to death and the tanker turned turtle,” said SI B. Srinivas.
A negligence case was booked against Srinivas the driver and he was taken into custody. He claimed he lost control of the vehicle as its brakes had failed. The victim’s body was shifted to hospital and later handed over to his family after post-mortem.
