Agrigold agent tried to tape conversation with minister

Hyderabad: An Agrigold agent who is also a journalist sneaked in his mobile phone into Telangana Home minister Nayani Narshimha Reddy’s residence. But security personnel managed to apprehend the suspect.

Ramesh, who belongs to Mahboobnagar and is staying at Vanasthalipuram, accompanied Agrigold victims to hand over a memorandum to the minister and recorded the conversation on his mobile phone.

Suspecting his movements, the minister’s security personnel apprehended him and handed him over to the Saifabad police for further investigations.

“Ramesh, who claimed to be a journalist in a local media firm accompanied the Agirgold victims. He recorded the conversation with the Home minister on his mobile phone. When security personnel noticed that his movements were suspicious they apprehended him,” said inspector K. Poornachander of the Saifabad police.

Meanwhile, the suspect carried the identity card of a media firm and all necessary proof and on verification they were all are found to be bonafide, the inspector added.

As per the security protocol applicable to ministers mobile phones are allowed in high security areas, but recorders of all types are prohibited except for authorised media personnel, the officials said. The suspect was taken into custody and an enquiry is in process.
