Lasya death: Murder case booked
Hyderabad: A day after an MBA graduate was found dead in her husband’s house, police booked a murder-cum-dowry death case against her husband following a complaint by her parents.
Lasya Priya’s father P. Venkateswara Rao, who alleged murder, said that her husband Abhishek Nair had asked for dowry and had harassed Priya.
However, Abhishek denied the allegations and said that it was a suicide. Abhishek told the police that they had a quarrel over Priya’s extramarital affair and that she slept in the room while he slept in the hall on Monday night. The police is awaiting the postmortem report.
“Abhishek said his wife had a relationship with another man before marriage. She had promised Abhishek that she will leave him and he agreed to marry her. However, even after marriage she continued to talk to him. The couple fought over this and on Monday night too they had a fight. After that she hanged herself,” said a police official.
Abhishek told the police that though he was in a relationship with her for a while he found out her “two timing” very late. After postmortem doctors said the cause of death seemed to be hanging.
However, the final report is yet to come. The Clues team found some signs of a fight at the scene. Some marks on the woman’s body also pointed at assault. Lasya Priya was found dead in her room on Tuesday morning, but Abhishek’s family alerted the police only in the evening.
Police said they did not find a suicide letter but a message that “nobody was responsible for my death” was written in bold red letters on her room’s mirror.
